Co-Parents & Step-Dating: Dating with Kids in the Mix

This week’s “Co-Parenting Matters” show was very particular special because our kids’ stepmom and Mike’s wife, Sherry, joined us for our discussion about step-dating.  Our other guest, Yvonne Kelly, a wonderful certified step-parenting and relationship coach and co-founder of the Step and Blended Family Institute, defines the step-dating process as beginning the moment someone begins to date a parent, and conversely, the moment a parent begins to date.  So what are some of the challenges and considerations involved with step-dating?  We covered some of them tonight:

  • Honest communication between the partners
  • Realistic expectations
  • Balancing parenting demands with the needs of the relationship
  • Timing: When to introduce the kids?  How soon is too soon?
  • What about the other co-parent?
  • And more!

If you missed the show, you can listen here.

Coming up Sunday 11/29 at 9;30 EST, our next “Co-Parenting Matters” show: “Getting Over Your Ex”.  Call in to 646.378-0580, listen in, post a comment here, or send us your question at info AT coparenting101 DOT org
