WE HAVE A WINNER! Proverbs for Co-Parenting: "To engage in conflict…"

We are pleased to announce that KAREN AUGUST is the winner of the Lifelines book giveaway!  Congratulations, Karen!

To engage in conflict, one does not bring a knife that cuts but a needle that sews.–Kiswahili proverb

Okay, like our Quotes of the Day, proverbs like the one above  weren’t written with co-parents specifically in mind, but they sure can illuminate some truths about the co-parenting journey.  Truly, after a break-up, co-parents are called to be needles that “sew together” a new partnership based on the best interests of their children.  And in the immortal words of MC Lyte, “Leave the guns and the crack and the knives alone…” Okay, forget the part about crack.  ANYWAY…

We’re excited to give one lucky CoParenting101.org  reader a hardcover copy of the new book from which the above proverb comes, Lifelines:  The Black Book of Proverbs by Askhari Johnson Hodari and  Yvonne McCalla Sobers, courtesy of Broadway Books.

Lifelines is a treasure of short witty wisdom from all over the globe.  The book includes clever, pointed and even poetic guidance for all areas of life like:

  • Birth and Parenting: “When a yam does not grow well, do not blame the yam; it is because of the soil.” (Ghana)
  • Marriage: “Getting married is nothing: it is assuming the responsibility of marriage that counts.”(Haiti)
  • Money Problems: “The poor person does not experience poverty all the time.” (Ghana)

You can also receive Daily Lifelines from the authors right in your inbox.

To enter to win your very own copy of Lifelines:  The Black Book of Proverbs, just leave a comment here with your own words of wisdom no later than 11:59pm EST on Saturday, December 26, 2009 Thursday, December 31, 2009. Winners will be announced here on CoParenting101.org.

And, here are a few other ways to increase your odds of winning:

There you go!  THREE chances to win!  The winner must be a US or Candian resident or have an US mailing address.

Good luck!
