November’s here, and for our family this month not only begins the holiday season, but it’s also birthday season for both our daughters, their grandma, and their uncle. So it’s a busy, but joyful time, and a wonderful lead-in to the New Year. Our holiday co-parenting schedule has been consistent over the six years since we first separated: We each alternate years with the girls for Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve, and we all spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day together. Having this agreement in place (and sticking to it) means no wrangling over who the girls are with and when and for how long, so we’re thankful that this busy time is also a peaceful time. To help all our fellow co-parents and step-parents “unwrap” the gift of peace this holiday season, we hosting a very special “Co-Parenting Matters” show this Sunday night at 9:30 ET!
Between the two of them, this week’s “Co-Parenting Matters” guests collectively have 11 children and stepchildren, so they know a little something about our topic: “Unwrapping the Gift of Peace During the Holidays.” We borrowed that tag line from Gayla Grace and Heather Hetchler’s new e-book, Thriving Through the Holidays: A Stepparent’s Guide to Success. Gayla and Heather are the founders of Stepparenting Success, a resource for families offering faith-based solutions to stepparenting challenges.
On the show, Gayla and Heather will share their experiences and offer hope and support to stepfamilies for the holidays and all year ‘round. And they’ll be taking your questions about how you and your family can enjoy a more peaceful holiday season, whether you’re stepparenting, co-parenting, or both. Send us a question, and you’ll be entered to win a copy of Thriving Through the Holidays, courtesy of Stepparenting Success. Leave a comment here, email us at info@coparenting101.org or tweet us @coparentingshow (DMs welcome!).
